The author is a rooming house denizen, retired from working in public housing,and once was a community organizer, a faithful Catholic deeply concerned about social justice, a poet, a lover of films and folk music. As a voracious reader I understand C.S. Lewis's statement that we read so that we know we are not alone, but add that we write so that others know we are not alone. I uphold the journalists purpose to comfort the afflicted and afflict the comfortable.

Another dark art that can be practices this time of year is making mobiles. Not the pretty kind that tinkle in the wind, but the kind that creep up the neck and tighten up your jaw. Here is one for you.
